One of the most common and widely used fly fishing accessories are the fishing vest. The vest has many functions such as waterproofing and extra storage space. It is usually worn over a shirt or other clothing and is held in one hand, which makes it very convenient to handle.
Fishing rods come in various lengths and weights. There is no universal 'best' rod, but there are some criteria that you should consider before you buy your own fly fishing equipment. You have to consider your skill level, the type of water you plan on fishing in and the type of fish that you want to catch. Once you have considered those, you can then decide between a bait caster reel, spin caster reel or a bait sinker reel. Each of these will have its own set of fly fishing accessories depending on your needs.
Reels also come with accessories depending on the brand and model. If you buy a spinning reel, you might as well include an exit direction indicator in the spool. Some fly fishermen even include a fly fisherman's bag, which comes with many additional fly fishing accessories. These bags come with many different pockets and pouches, and some models include bottle openers. This is a handy accessory to have when you're out casting because it allows you to quickly and efficiently open up the fly line.
